I cut my hair and I'm a little obsessed
You’ve probably seen it splashed across my various social media accounts already, so this may seem kind of redundant (and a bit annoying), but yeah I cut my hair and I think it’s been one of the BEST decisions I’ve made all year.
My hair was pretty long, like waist length, which is not even the longest I’ve ever had it (butt length was the longest) but it was getting heavy and difficult to manage. Washing it was always a chore, because it would take so long to dry, and I was finding strands of it all over my bedroom. Ew, I know.
I had been ruminating over the idea about getting it cut for about a month, and finally just decided to do it. I made the appointment on a Friday and got it cut the very next day. I didn’t tell my boyfriend either, so that was a (happy!) surprise for him.
I got 12 inches taken off, which I have kept, and plan on donating (virgin hair allows you to do cool things like that) to Wigs For Kids.
After getting it cut I felt like a literal weight had been lifted off of me. No more tangles or random knots to deal with, I’m using less shampoo and conditioner (frugality at its finest), and my hair does not require two hair elastics to keep it up and out of my face anymore. Plus, now that my hair isn’t weighing itself down, I’m starting to notice all the natural curl in it. They’re just little baby curls, but they’re so dang cute!!
Part of me wishes I had cut it sooner, but really the timing was pretty perfect. Now it’s nice and light for warmer weather and way, way quicker to style. Seriously, I can have it straightened in 15 minutes flat if need to. Such a time save considering I used to have to block out at least 30 minutes to do my hair everyday.
So, if you’re at all considering cutting your own hair, let me be the little devil sitting on your shoulder telling you to go through with it already.
Okay, I’ll shut up about my hair now. Promise.
