Life lessons and life update
Lessons I have learned:
Everything happens exactly when it’s supposed to happen.
Being mad about things not happening when you want them to happen, does not make them happen.
In the last week I have had four job interviews, accepted a job offer and turned my internship into a paid position.
This may or may not sound like much depending on your own life and experiences, but for me it has been a lot. Especially considering the last three months have been lack-lustre in terms of the whole get-a-job-and-make-money thing. Should your memory need jogging, you can re-read this post about it from February, where my bank account hit a dangerously low amount. Granted, the time between Christmas and spring isn’t usually known for being the best time to be looking for a job, but I was still feeling the disappointment of not having any opportunities coming my way.
It’s not like the last three months have been a complete waste though. I’ve been learning new software (read: completely taking advantage of Adobe free-trials), writing (I have a blog, just in-case you didn’t know that already), and reaching out to other people in my field of work for advice. I’m really grateful that I have had this period of time where I was able to really explore my own interests and be creative, while not also having to couch-surf.
So I guess my biggest takeaway is that it’s important to be patient and kind with myself. Everything happens when it's supposed to, and I am exactly where I need to be right now. I feel optimistic, and I’m very excited about my job and the opportunities I have going forward.
Who knows though, all of these things could be taken away from me tomorrow, but at least I’ve had this little moment of bliss where I felt like I actually had my life at least slightly together.
