I have seven dollars in my bank account
The title of this post is not a drill. I do indeed only have seven dollars to my name ($7.76 if we want to be exact) and I’m going to explain why.
As of right now I am doing an internship, which means that I am not getting paid :( and have very limited funds to work with. Luckily, I have some very supportive parents who let me live with them for free (kids, be nice to your parents, they put up with a lot) so I’m really only responsible for paying for my own clothes, entertainment and anything else I deem worthy of my money.
To make the most of my situation, I’ve been reflecting on the things I enjoy doing which are free (or close to it), and trying to do more of them. So, if you’re broke like me and want some ideas for free activities, please see below.
Things that cost no $ and make me :)
Watching YouTube videos (I like these ones)
Crosswords & soduko (I know, I’m a grandma)
Reading (REAL books like this one)
Making collages (Find them here)
Writing (This blog is evidence)
Hula hooping (it’s great exercise, highly recommend)
Baking (I made this recipe last week and it was amazing. Tip: sub out the walnuts for chocolate)
Trimming off my split ends (I know it’s a weird one, but I find it so satisfying)
Going for walks
Burning a candle or two (I know two at the same time, INSANITY!!)
I hope these activities and ideas bring as much joy to your penniless soul as they do mine. I will say though, that I do find some fun in having such little spending money. It forces me to be creative and appreciate the small pleasures so much more.
Of course I still want a job and money. Nothing beats that.
