I'm having a moment with puffy vests and fishnet tights right now
The two items in my wardrobe that have gotten the most use lately are:
Green puffy vest
The vest I have actually had for several years and it is probably the oldest piece of clothing in my closet. However, I have only used it a handful of times before now. A recent high-pressure weather pattern demanded that it be worn though, so here we are. The colour and level of puffiness are the factors that have secured this vest it’s spot in my queue of go-to pieces.
Green, which is actually my favourite colour, is not one that I wear often. Recently, I have decided to make it a goal of mine to wear more bright colours, and this vest definitely checks that box. The colour also transforms it from a basic to a statement piece, which I appreciate. As for the puffiness, It’s thick enough to keep me warm but isn’t so thick that I look like a marshmallow. Plus, puffy outerwear is kinda “in” right now, so even though I’m not big on trends, this one sort of just fell into my lap.
Fishnets are a hero accessory though, and definitely more of a details thing.
Before a few weeks ago, I had never owned a pair of fishnet tights, but now (thanks to Amazon Prime) I have five. They’re nicer than traditional pantyhose because they don’t run as much, they let your legs breathe, and they don’t feel so “old lady-ish”. If someone could design a pair that didn’t split in the crotch when you put them on though, that would be much appreciated.
Most of my outfits in the past few weeks have contained the vest and fishnet tights. They may seem like an oddball pair, but with the right layering they can co-exist in the same outfit just fine. Now, who’s to say how long my obsession with puffy vests and fishnets will last, but right now they’re holding strong, and I think they will continue to be a part of my official uniform for winter 2019.
